This is our first year at RCHS. My daughter is in 10th grade and she LOVES this school. She plugged right into the theater/choir departments and was welcomed by both students and teachers. She fines her classes challenging and the teachers and staff approachable. The counseling department has been a life saver not only for her, but for me as well. We came from a very small school and I was worried how she would do at RCHS. From the first day we stopped by, we have felt at home and supported.

Generally good teachers those that aren't are weeded out relatively quickly. For my two kids that went/go here, 50% teachers excellent, 25% okay, 25% just reading from the slides. Kids are generally well prepared when they graduate. Sports programs are generally very good, although like anywhere else a case of nickel and diming as taxpayers are too cheap to pony up for fully paid education. Principal is excellent cares about kids and relates to parents. Would have given 5 stars but the guidance counseling system is seriously broken! Counselors must be overworked as it is almost impossible for my daughter to get time to discuss her college ambitions, classes, etc. It seems they only have time for problem kids. Also, the assistants that "guard" the counselors' time should be put through a serious training program, or replaced. They are rude to the kids that are earnestly just trying to get help. My daughter spends an inordinate amount of time just trying to make an appointment, never mind actually getting to see a counselor.

I attended this school, there appears to be a lot of good school spirit when it's time to show it, but many of the students who show all that spirit complain about the school all the time. The administration and much if the staff are only interested in helping the kids who are really thriving and excluding those who are struggling. Many of the students are judge mental and rude and overall it's not an environment I would ever want to be in again nor would I allow my children to be in, due to the high amount of bullying from both peers and teachers. The only reason I give this school any stars is because they have phenomanal sports programs and a lot of after school club activity options.

This school provides challenge and support for students to excel. there are several clubs and activities to keep them engaged. This is a happy and engaging environment for kids to learn in. A great variety of classes for the students to pursue their interests and prepare for college!!

My school is awesome! We really have fun while we learn. Teachers are great, I've never had a teacher I disliked. The other students here are great, and it's a very welcoming community. :)

We had 2 kids go through RCHS. One went to private school afterward (Carnegie Mellon) and one went to CU. Both were very well-prepared to compete in every academic and extracurricular area they participated in, with the ability to get in to the 10% academically wherever they ended up. RCHS is a great school that balances the social aspects with high level academics.

Good school overall. I have a Sophomore and a Senior attending the school and have had alot of problems with the Math teachers. They have a new principal and athletic director, so we are waiting to see what impact the new administrative leadership will have on the school.

The teacher to student ratio is not accurate. When there are 35 -40 students in many core subject classrooms, and only one teacher. It is more like 1 teacher to 35 students in a classroom.

Rock Canyon was an amazing school. I was well-prepared for college. For the most part, the teachers were exceptional, providing constant encouragement, support, and superior education. You can't get a better public school education anywhere! One of the best things about RC is the emphasis on education. Sure, we have great sports teams, but academics are always #1, even to coaches and athletes. I'm so lucky I went to Rock Canyon. The opportunities there are endless!

RCHS is a top-quality school. Excellent administration, staff, and students. I currently have a freshman and a senior there, and have only had one complaint over the years -- one bad teacher. Even the principal stood by me when I refused to allow my freshman to have this teacher, going against school policy. Academics are the top priority, athletics and activities are abundant, and students perform community service as a grad requirement. RCHS students are excellent representatives of this community, and we're proud to send them so well-prepared into the world.

After coming from a nearby Douglas County High School and transferring into Rock Canyon I can definitely tell how exceptional this school is. It seems like everyone from the teachers to the students really care about education. Theres great school spirit and overall its just a great school, and in my opinion better than the other schools in Douglas County.

Rock Canyon is a great school that truly strives to give the students a positive high school experience and prepare them for college. My only criticism is that I don't think they do enough for students that struggle, but are not identified as special needs. They do, however, provide a terrific environment for motivated students.
