Bullying is prevalent at this school - we are returning to the area and chose to choice enroll to a different school. Learned that two other students have moved to new district this year alone because of bullying! My daughter is thriving at Clear Creek this year - VERY happy to have the choice of which school to go to, I will never again go to Evergreen district!

This is our first year in 6th grade at EMS and wow, what a difference from our previous elementary school. The standards are much higher here and they actually accomplish something during the school day! It has been a little bit of an adjustment because we came from an elementary school that had quite a bit of down time and students were bored. At EMS, I feel like they are doing what a school should do...it's hard, but my child has really learned how to hit the books and study. The only downside is some teachers may expect a bit much from 11-12 year olds in 6th grade. It wasn't unusual to have 3 exams on Friday that required hours of study each. Grades are totally based on points earned unlike the seemingly random grade assignment in elementary school. I'm not complaining, but some kids have a hard time with that level of rigor at that age. Overall, great school - my child feels that the other kids are much more respectful at this school than our previous one and it has been easy to transition socially.

Dedicated staff and dynamic curriculum. Individual needs are consistently addressed. A fantastic elective program with lots of offerings.

Completely agree with the bad assessments below - this is a free babysitting service, and a poor one at that! Both my children went from A/B students to D/F students in one year. NO communication from the teachers, NO motivation to succeed. Happy to be moving out of this district and not have to deal with these teachers / administrators anymore. Another note - if you call the main office to ask a question, it depends on who you talk to, what answer you get! If you don't like the answer, wait 15 minutes and call back - you will get a different answer. No rules are enforced, and if you try to follow the rules, you will get treated poorly and like you are stupid - example - bringing in a note when your child is absent (was told to do so at one point - gave back to my daughter saying "we don't do that here") Bringing a note when riding a different bus - gave back and told to call bus terminal, the yelled at when I didn't bring a note a different time. When I say yell, I mean told in a very mean voice - "you can't just expect to do that". I will NOT miss this school district, and I feel sorry for the families that are forced to remain here!

VERY disappointed in EMS this year. As a past employee of JeffCo schools, I was sure that middle school would be a positive experience for my child. I was wrong. Bullying was prevalent but was met with no action. My A/B student was treated unfairly at the end of the year when his/her work was assessed inappropriately resulting in a drop in the final trimester grade of 14% points. I tried to contact the instructor asking to see the grading rubric, but received no reply. I was never allowed to see the rubric. Another instructor responsible for guiding students through this project left his classroom for extended periods of time and was caught multiple times playing games on his iPad. I was extremely disappointed in the severe lack of professionalism in the instructors at EMS as one felt it appropriate to discuss my child's grades with me in public. Additionally, none of his teachers (even his advisor) would respond to the one concern I had all year. I didn't as much as get a one-line e-mail response. All the hard work my child put in was for nothing, leaving a demoralized and downtrodden child, and no one was there to answer the question, "Why?" My child will not return.

With a new and passionate principal and great teachers, our school rocks! Not only are there lots of clubs for students to choose from, but teachers bring their own special interests to the class as well. First time I have seen more boys than girls in consumer services classes. Also, looking forward to Diversity Day next year.

Wow this the lowest level of learning I have ever seen at a school. If you need free babysitting then it might work? The teacher do not even the subject (math) GT. Watch out this is not a teaching school!

My son is a 6th grade student at this school. Our experience here thus far has been very good. He's had issues with adjusting to middle school in general and has had health problems. The school and teachers have been amazing with working with us as a family and caring about him as a student. I've been so impressed! I love the way we can keep up with his grades every day online and know what is happening. I email his teacher and (most) of them respond back within 24 hours. The front office staff, nurse, counselor, etc. are incredible. The teachers DO truly seem to care about my child. The education that he is receiving challenges him and he's a highly gifted student. He was bored silly at Wilmot. They would keep him held behind while the other students caught up there and the class sizes were huge at Wilmot. This isn't the case at the MS. Of course, all of the teachers are amazing, but most have seriously impressed me. I am a former HS principal myself and my standards are high. If I wasn't happy, I'd pull my son out and put him in a private school in a second. Needless to say, I'm thrilled with EMS.

It seems that the teachers at EMS do not really care about students. They care about doing the minimum amount of work and submitting grades infrequently. As far as actually HELPING kids learn or the school making sure that kids are on track--forget about it. You will never hear from them. If you ask for additional testing for your child, you will be met with silence. I agree with the person who said earlier that if you've got an A student, he'll probably do fine. If you've got a kid who needs extra help, you're in for a hard year.

The teachers are great. The new principal seems to care about the students, staff and parents. I would highly recommend this school. My daughter loves it!

The principal is completely and totally over her head. They need a strong male figure who not only has a passion for his job, but is not afraid to hold the staff accountable.
